Optimizing Data Security
for Microsoft Sharing and Collaboration

There’s a fine line between sharing and oversharing. When Microsoft users employ the “copy link” for documents or items in SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams, unintended consequences can arise – creating individual permissions for the item, automatically using the default policy for the site, and possibly exposing sensitive documents to be shared beyond the intended audience.

On the other hand, SharePoint Admin sharing settings offer three options for organization-wide policies, and each option has its own pros and cons.

Rego’s Microsoft experts Tommy Reyolds and Daniel Sanders will address the balance needed to define the appropriate sharing settings for SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.  They will demonstrate what happens with “copy link” actions, what the unintended side effects are, and how administrators can mitigate the actions.

They’ll also demonstrate how the default settings might compromise content security and how to remediate those settings and share strategies for planning realistic access to sites and content that allow users to share without exposing content to oversharing risks.

By the end of this webinar, you will be equipped to:

  • Discuss the security implications of document sharing settings in M365
  • Understand how to navigate the boundary between sharing and oversharing
  • Create a plan for remediating those settings where necessary
  • Set your SharePoint content and organization on a more prepared path for Copilot

If your organization is implementing Microsoft Copilot, this webinar is for you! This is because with Copilot, previously shared information becomes even more accessible, making careful sharing settings even more crucial.
